August 12, 1971 - July 8, 2010

It is with incredible sadness that the family of Godfrey Lincoln Phillip announces his passing on Thursday, July 8, 2010 at the Calgary Foothills Hospital at the age of 38 years.

A son, a brother and a friend to many, Lincoln generously and unconditionally shared a life filled with laughter and optimism.

Lincoln leaves behind his beloved family: parents Godfrey & Yvonne Phillip of Calgary; brother Floyd Phillip of Calgary; sisters Elizabeth Redhead of Long Island, NY and Marcelle (Carlyle) Marshall of Calgary; niece Makenzie Phillip of Calgary; aunts Celia Wells of Calgary, Maureen (Cecil) Johnson of Pennsylvania, Hazel (Philsbert) Valentine of Brooklyn, NY, Sharon Foster of Queens, NY and Phyllis (Federick) Brown of Brooklyn, NY; uncles Jude (Florence) Foster of Maryland, Roderick (Carma) Foster of Brooklyn, NY, Stephen (June) Foster of Queens, NY and Reginald (Goldie) Phillip of Richmond, VA; cousins Aden (Victoria) Wells, Neva (Oliver) Perotte, Kathy Johnson and Ricky Jordan all of Calgary; and many more family and friends.

Born and raised in Calgary, Lincoln attended Forest Lawn High School and The University of Calgary, graduating with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communications.

As a boy, his head was constantly buried in a book. His passion for literature and the visual arts led him to eventual careers as a journalist, consultant and fashion stylist. An avid participant within the Calgary arts and business communities, Lincoln amassed a dedicated following of friends and colleagues who will all give pause to register our common loss.

Godfrey Lincoln Phillip was interred at Garden of Peace Cemetery.
