Mrs. Peggy Jean Gillespie (Preston) of Rimbey, Alberta passed away peacefully in her sleep at the Centennial Centre, Ponoka on Sunday, November 5, 2006 at the age of 78 years. Peggy was born in Monitor, Alberta on June 7, 1928. She was the youngest of a family of six children, born to William and Annie Muddle, and they homesteaded in the Sounding Lake, Alberta area. Many lifelong friends were made during their years farming there. The family then moved to the Rimbey area in 1936, where they continued farming, and the rest of the family branched out into the Rimbey and Lockhart areas with farming and businesses. Peggy loved to help her father on the farm, and she continued to care for her parents all of their lives. Peggy was united in marriage to Daniel James Preston in 1948, and they continued farming and raising their two children, Dan and Jenny. She always enjoyed working outdoors with farm duties, gardening, and animals, and she kept a loving home for everyone. Peggy was loved by everyone who knew her; as she was a very kind, loving and helpful person to family, friends and neighbors. Illness took Dan from Peggy in 1990, and she moved into Rimbey for five years. During that time, she made many more special friends. Peggy then re-married in 1996, to Alec Gillespie, and they moved back to the farm where they enjoyed their retirement and rural living for ten years.
?Peggy will be missed greatly by her family and friends.?
Peggy will be lovingly remembered by her son, Danny (Susan) Preston of Rimbey and their children, Michelle (fiancé, Rod) of Edmonton, Alberta; Kevin (Jamie) of Surrey, British Columbia; Jason of Stettler, Alberta; and Jefferey of Rimbey, Alberta; and her daughter, Jenny (Tony) Stout and their children, Sidney and Nathan, all of Rimbey. She will also be lovingly remembered by her sister, Molly Gyori of Red Deer, Alberta; her sister-in-law, Janie Muddle of Rimbey; her husband, Alec; as well as many nieces and nephews.
